The exhibition āSand and Goldā is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Latvian painting classic KÄrlis DobrÄjs (1943).
The exposition of anniversary exhibition consists of works from various creative decades and new paintings from the end of 2022 and 2023.
Talent and muse have always accompanied the painterās creative work. He started his career in the 1960s and still painting to this day. DobrÄjs expresses his active life position and vision through the visual language of art and is also the author of memoirs and gathers followers and associates on social media.
Nature, humans and life inspire the artistās work. He has also been an educator and advisor to several generations of young artists. His artistic style is characterised by a consistent commitment to the values of the old masters of classical painting: the quality of academic drawing, the monumentality of the figurative composition, and the nuanced use of colour. The genre of painting dominates psychological portraits, sensual acts, majestic still-life, and figurative images.
During his career, he has gained recognition and is the laureate of several art awards. The artistās works are in Latvian museum collections, including the Latvian National Museum of Art, as well as in private collections in Latvia and abroad.
